I do not need anyone’s permission to be my true self. ~ Jonathan Lockwood Huie
Oraine R. Ramoo, B.A.(Hons), M.Ed., CTT, BFRP, CNT
I received my Master of Education in Counseling Psychology and Human Services from Lehigh University, Pennsylvania, USA. Prior to moving to PA, I spent time in New York City completing my Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Psychology at St. Francis College. I see value in many therapeutic traditions and use a unique and eclectic combination of humanistic, cognitive, transpersonal, and depth psychologies whilst incorporating diverse techniques.
In addition to general counseling, I specialize in female trauma (miscarriage, abortion, rape) and I work closely with adult female survivors of childhood sexual abuse. Through my training as a Certified Trauma Therapist I guide clients individually and gently through the PATH Program. I also am Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) trained and use this approach to help clients process their traumas and other struggles. As an MBTI® Certified Practitioner and can administer, score and offer feedback on the MBTI® assessment to interested clients. I also take a special interest in working with Highly Sensitive People and spiritual intelligence.
I am particularly blessed to have clients who resonate with some of my alternative approaches, so I am happy to work with clients to find gentle and drug-free alternatives to alleviate symptoms of depression, anxiety, trauma, stress and more. With formal training in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and breathwork - both very successful therapeutic practices - an additional therapeutic layer is added.
I am proudly an independent consultant with Families in Action, Trinidad and Tobago. When I feel the overwhelming desire to write I contribute to the International Psychology Bulletin and Our Point. I am a service provider for International Forensics & Business Institute (Trinidad) and am a Board Member of Master Peace International (USA) and a member of the Association of Female Executives of Trinidad and Tobago (AFETT). I have had continued membership with the American Psychological Association for over 13 years, membership in the Association of Traumatic Stress Specialists, at the Dr. Edward Bach Foundation and the EMDR International Association.
Over time, I have facilitated workshops at Atlantic LNG; Central Bank of Trinidad & Tobago; ABEL Building Solutions; The United States Embassy; PriceSmart; National Flour Mills; Nu-Iron; eTecK; and others.
I am quite devoted to the South of Trinidad and enjoy the quieter pleasures found here. When not counselling, I am joyfully making scented soy candles at my other happy business Garden of Grace Candle Co.
